About Tim

I'm a Christian, a husband, a worker (for the Australian Public Service), interested in photography, books, music, movies, good food and wine, coffee, and many other wonderful things in life. God has blessed me in many ways - with faith, a lovely wife, two children, great friends, Christian fellowship at Crossroads Christian Church and more widely, a caring family, and so many more things as well. All in all, being found in Christ and with all these great things, I can complain about nothing.

The Revolutions have not been televised

…but they are being shown at the cinema.

We just got back from watching Matrix: Revolutions and, well, it was a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Going in, most of the reviews I’d read were pretty damning. They varied from ‘Can’t live up to the original‘, to ‘Marginally better than the second one‘ to ‘Worst of the three’. Anyway, I went in prepared for the worst and was, kind of, pleasantly surprised.

Elliott Smith died this week

Elliott Smith, one of my favourite musicians, died on Wednesday 22 October, apparently due to suicide.

Elliott Smith played what I would call a kind of folk-rock. I got into his music when I heard his album XO a few years back now (1999 I think). After that, I heard his covers of songs by The Beatles (such as Because on the American Beauty soundtrack), John Lennon and The Kinks – and I was even more into him.

His death is a big loss to the music world and I personally find it (as does Tegan) very sad that we’ll not hear any new music from him, not to mention that any death is a sad thing.

The Chaser stole my idea!

Just saw this in the online opinion section of the SMH:
http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/10/21/1066631429212.html

Basically, it’s an opinion piece by Dominic Knight from The Chaser comedy team, in which he says much the same things I did in my Heckler piece a week or so back about having a celebrity replace Simon Crean. However, Mr Knight fails to draw any reference to Andrew Denton, so I still consider mine to be the superior piece.

Recent gaming

I’ve been getting back into a bit of gaming on the computer and online over the last few days. Being without internet access and pretty busy over the previous few weeks meant that I hadn’t been doing much gaming, so it was pretty fun to get back into it.

So, I’ve been playing the Halo demo, Jedi Outcast, Battlefield 1942 and Max Payne. Here’s some observations:
