Elliott Smith, one of my favourite musicians, died on Wednesday 22 October, apparently due to suicide. <\/p>\n
Elliott Smith played what I would call a kind of folk-rock. I got into his music when I heard his album XO<\/i> a few years back now (1999 I think). After that, I heard his covers of songs by The Beatles (such as Because<\/i> on the American Beauty<\/i> soundtrack), John Lennon and The Kinks – and I was even more into him. <\/p>\n
His death is a big loss to the music world and I personally find it (as does Tegan) very sad that we’ll not hear any new music from him, not to mention that any death is a sad thing.<\/p>\n
