{"id":18,"date":"2003-11-25T13:14:58","date_gmt":"2003-11-25T02:14:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.johnsons.id.au\/wordpress\/?p=18"},"modified":"2003-11-25T13:14:58","modified_gmt":"2003-11-25T02:14:58","slug":"heckler-follow-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.johnsons.id.au\/?p=18","title":{"rendered":"Heckler follow-up"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a follow-up to my Dad&#8217;s Heckler article on the humour in local council&#8217;s declaring nuclear-free zones, a woman from Katoomba wrote a letter to the Herald today announcing that:<\/p>\n<p><i><b>Signs have a Point<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Frank Johnson (Heckler, November 24) condemns our &#8220;Keep Blue Mountains nuclear free&#8221; signs, but a little local knowledge is useful. Nuclear waste is regularly trucked through our council area on its way to inland dumps, a practice which will increase if the Federal Government gets its way. <\/p>\n<p>We aren&#8217;t happy about radioactive heavy vehicles using the slippery, winding highway, though we can&#8217;t stop them. Our &#8220;gimmicky&#8221; signs are therefore our only way of registering our protest against this imposition, and we&#8217;re fond of them.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi Parry, Katoomba, November 24.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>While she may have a point, I think she missed the point.
