Grandma’s 80th Birthday party

Last Saturday, we went up to Goulburn for my grandmother’s 80th birthday party. My Grandma has led quite a remarkable life and it was wonderful to celebrate this milestone with her. It’s even more wonderful that she is still going so strongly, both physically and in Christ.

I’ve now uploaded Tegan’s and my photos of the party, which you can see here:

My Grandma’s life story is a very interesing one and, as my Mum proved when she related it during her speech, very emotionally moving as well. As a kid, it’s hard to know what your grandparents are like, but I’ve realised later in life that my Grandma is both intelligent and resourceful. One fact that never ceases to amaze me is that while Russian is her first language, she has at times also been fluent in English, German, French, Polish and possibly Ukrainian as well – and she can still understand conversations in German if she concentrates for long enough. I just have no concept of those kind of language skills.
